If every time you looking the mirror you see a forehead full of fine lines and wrinkles that not only make you look older than you are but make you look cross or sad. You may have a brow that you feel to be too weighty for the rest of your face. However, you’re satisfied with the rest of your face, and you don’t need a full face lift. In that case, one of your options may be a brow lift.
Someone who wants a brow lift must first consult with a plastic surgeon. The patient tells the surgeon what they want the procedure to do, and the surgeon lets the patient know if they are a good candidate and what a brow lift can and cannot achieve for them. The doctor may also suggest that the patient opt for other procedures in tandem, such as an eyelid lift.
The patient should not be afraid to ask the doctor any questions that they have about the surgery. In turn, the doctor will ask the patient questions, such as if the patient drinks or smokes, has had previous surgery or cosmetic procedures, has any pre-existing conditions, or is allergic to any medications. The doctor may take photos of the patient and measure their face. Many doctors have computer programs where they can show the patient what the outcome of a brow lift will probably look like.
The patient and doctor will also determine the type of brow lift surgery. There are two basic types.
In the endoscopic brow lift, the surgeon uses an endoscope. The end of the endoscope contains a tiny camera that is attached to a video monitor. The incisions to admit the endoscope and the operating instruments are tiny, so the scars they leave are hard to see. However, endoscopic brow lifts aren’t for everyone. The other technique is the coronal brow lift, in which the openings are made from ear to ear.
